Love is a temporary madness. It erupts like an earthquake and then subsides. And when it subsides you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your roots have become so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. Because this is what love is. Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion. That is just being "in love" which any of us can convince ourselves we are.
Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident. Your mother and I had it, we had roots that grew towards each other underground, and when all the pretty blossoms had fallen from our branches we found that we were one tree and not two.

If i were you, i really wouldn't give that all up you know?

I've been content otherwise: an old friend's surprise return, a blossoming friendship that's come to mean so much more, many late nights of comfortable conversation, a good homecooked meal, two dogs that i'll come to miss when the week ends, one huge essay almost done, my mother's birthday, a pretty bouquet of flowers, occasional overseas calls and text messages from people i love, and friends here, who never fail to make me feel loved. Most of all, God's been very faithful. (:

because i've come to love her like my own. :(

what's there not to love when you see a guy hard at work in the kitchen?

mum's birthday flowers that cost way too much.

Sounds good with you dear.. :) Especially the dogs. You took care of dogs while their mum/dad was away? How nice! The schnauzer looks absolutely adorable!! I miss you too..Really hope you're surviving well in school, that the little surprises and all you get from friends will be enough to give you a boost thru school. *HugS*
am i supposed to comment? well here it is anyhow.
this is but one conception of love, which unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately) does not apply here. only a fool would throw away true love. do you honestly believe that of me?
true love is subjective.
and most people wouldn't know true love even if it kicked them in the balls and spat in their face.
that said, saying God has been faithful is unsettling to me.
God isn't obliged to be faithful. we are.
of course God isn't obliged to be faithful- who ever said He was? But He is, even when we're not and thats the whole point- He is one big loving fella.
i didn't phrase that well.
i can't quite wrap my mind around describing God as faithful.
it makes it sound as though He's beholden.
and he's not?
it's like. the dynamics of worshipper-divinity in my mind make it an odd word to use.
i actually think, it depends on the personal dynamics one shares with God. but for me at least, i find saying God is faithful sounds... presumptious.
you spelt presumptuous wrongly.
and its very common to say that God's a faithful God, because it implies that He is even when we so often are not- ie. when we stray away.
whose dog is that!! since when do you like dogs huh? hahaha but that being said, he's so cute! glad to read some updates from you.. i especially like that excerpt on what love is...
love always!
